For all those who commented yesterday that they didn't want to get too close to the croc. Here is another pic I took of one sunbaking/sleeping.
This is as close as I went as I didn't want to disturb its sleep. But I was pretty close.
NO WAY I would be anywhere near a salt water version!!
Hmm. This is very close. Glad you didn't disturb it. The teeth look wicked and it's probably strong, like an alligator, so would tackle you in minutes if not more quickly.
You are too close for my comfort! But then I have a feeling you are much more limber and agile than I am. I would be dinner for this fellow if he was hungry enough to chase me. Great shot.
Great shot. How interesting that the freshwater ones are less aggressive than the saltwater ones. We keep our distance from the Florida alligators too.
@dkbarnett Not very big, maybe 1 1/2 metres @ninaganci Not a baby but not a really mature big one either. Fresh water crocs don't get really big like the salties. @olivetreeann this one was too comfortable in the sun to chase anything. They don't really go after humans unless seriously harassed. @randystreat really, I wouldn't be there if I felt unsafe. Most likely result of me getting too close would be it woke up and slipped into the water.
You did venture close enough
