These are Bougainvillea spectabilis (family Nyctaginaceae, common name “Great bougainvillea”) flowers — three of them — on the plant that forms the canopy inside the main door into the SIUC greenhouse. The plant is green, with green leaves and pink bracts. The “flowers” are the smaller, white structures in the image. The pink “petals” are not really petals, but, once again, “bracts.”

I was about to look you up...I had a bit of time on the site tonight...so was going through my friends list...it is weird when I click on a name and go to their page, and no activity in ages. Sad. Anyway, glad to see you on here and this flower pic is to DIE for! Wow. I have never seen one like this...I love the pink and all the detailed dark pink veining...and how there are three triangular leaves or whatever and three white circular frilly flowers.
