Valeriana officinalis by rhoing

Valeriana officinalis

I liked the “notches” or points on the leaves of this plant and the color pattern. I’m guessing it’s Valeriana officinalis (family Valerianaceae), based on at least one photo at PlantSystematics.org, http://phytoimages.siu.edu/imgs/pelserpb/r/Valerianaceae_Valeriana_officinalis_15810.html
The genus is correct, but species cannot be “nailed down” until flowers pop…

Banned in Connecticut as a “state-listed noxious weed”! See http://plants.usda.gov/java/profile?symbol=VAOF

An interesting read: “Medical attributes of Valeriana officinalis - Valerian,” http://klemow.wilkes.edu/Valerian.html
