I was standing by the campus garden with my camera up and this girl swooped in just a few feet away. She let me get a few shots before moving on to other gardens.

I checked out some other hummingbird images and the shutter speed needs to be about one-fourth of my 1/400 to actually freeze the wing action. Much is said about how aggressive and territorial these birds are. Regardless of their attitude or personalities, they *are* fascinating!
I am so envious! When you do ever see one, I have learned to to jerk up the camera to shoot position! Scares them off. My neighbor said I can come over any time and sit in her deck to see hers but they have not come yet. Fav

Went to a short workshop last night on photographing plants & flowers. I have become lazy with "our" camera and I have already been experimenting with settings I've ignored till now!
