Common Buckeye by rhoing

Common Buckeye

Dozens and dozens of shots chasing a couple of Buckeyes and an Eastern Tailed Blue. Don’t really like this shot, but it’s the best of the dozens-and-dozens of mediocre shots of this distinctive-looking butterfly. I have only seen a handful of them this year and perhaps there is an indication on my sightings page why that is so: the Common Buckeye is just a “Temporary Colonist” in my area.

Confirmed at BAMONA as “Junonia coenia” or “Common Buckeye”; http://www.butterfliesandmoths.org/sighting_details/926704
