Initially thought this was a Gray Hairstreak, but from the patterns on the bottoms of the wings, it’s likely an “Eastern Tailed-Blue” (“Cupido comyntas”). Why is this my post for a milestone like 1,000th post? Because it’s incredibly difficult/lucky in my experience to get a good shot with the wings down and in many of those few cases, the wings appear to have a “flat” deep blue color. I think this shot shows better why this species is in the family Lycaenidae, “Gossamer-wing Butterflies.”
