On the recommendation of our good friends Greg & Suzanne, we took the St. Charles streetcar to Superior Seafood in the Uptown area. We'd purchased a day-pass in the morning ($3 per day-pass), and I have to say that the streetcar rides themselves should be considered part of the local "entertainment" if you get a good driver!
We were just-in-time for half-priced beers and we had two "Uptown Favorites,"
» Shrimp Pesto Risotto (risotto with sautéed shrimp, pesto and a tomato confit, topped with Parmesan cheese)
» Pasta Vieux Carré (shrimp, andouille and crawfish in a smoked tomato cream sauce with spinach, tomatoes and angel hair pasta)
We had mentioned that it was Clare's birthday, so they brought this complimentary dessert: flourless chocolate cake served warm with raspberry compote and vanilla ice cream. And a sparkler! (Note the cut lemon stand!)
A wonderful meal and a fitting last-dinner before we head home on the afternoon train tomorrow. Thanks for the recommendation, G&S!
