Blower motor resistor by rhoing

Blower motor resistor

The blower/fan in Clare's car stopped working on the lowest setting recently. In an unrelated matter, upon our return from our Ohio-Michigan-North Carolina trip, we noticed a new warning light flashing on the instrument panel. We weren't going to trouble the service department (or our pocketbook) for the blower issue, but we took it to our salesman at the dealership for the security warning light.

Turns out the security warning light flashing while the car is off is normal. As for the blower, he said it was probably just a bad switch. As our younger daughter says, “To the Google!”

It seems that blower motor resistors fail on Ford Escapes more, or sooner, than they should, and there's a YouTube video showing how to access it! So here's Clare's blower motor resistor, and it's obviously "fried"!

I've ordered a replacement part for the model year of Clare's vehicle, and it looks like we'll save about $15 off the part price, as well as what our dealership's service department might charge for labor time to replace it. Thank you Google & YouTube! :)
