On our last half-day in San Francisco, we walked the Bridge (and back for a total walk of about 3½ miles). Probably as one might expect, it was foggy during our morning walk. This was when we finished: the south tower from the south side of the Strait.
For the rest of our day, we caught a shuttle to SFO to pick up a rental car and then drove down the coast on Rte 1 to Pacific Grove on Monterey Bay, where we had a room at a B&B.

From its wikipedia page,
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Golden_Gate_Bridge » “The bridge is one of the most internationally recognized symbols of San Francisco, California, and the United States. It has been declared one of the Wonders of the Modern World by the American Society of Civil Engineers.
“The Frommer’s travel guide describes the Golden Gate Bridge as ‘possibly the most beautiful, certainly the most photographed, bridge in the world.’ It opened in 1937 and was, until 1964, the longest suspension bridge main span in the world, at 4,200 feet (1,300 m).”
