This is another “Painted Lady.” I edited it to facilitate comparison to yesterday's “American Lady.”
On the underside of the hind wings, the Painted Lady has four eye spots, while the American Lady has two oversized eye spots. They can also be distinguished by the patterns on the tops of their wings. Jane commented a couple days ago that I'm quite the expert; not so. But I am familiar with the few species I see in my locality.
