Reading with Uncle Neal

She loves “Guncle”! With a baby brother due any time, it's interesting to realize that the first-born child gets to “name” the relatives. Baby brother will simply have to be assimilated to all the names this one has decided to call the four grandparents and the aunts and uncles.

I was an oldest and the first on my side of the family to try “Aunt Dolores,” which was clearly more than I could handle when I was just learning to talk. So when she became “Auntie Dee” to me, she was “Auntie Dee” to all on my side of the family. Forever. And so it will be [probably] for “Guncle” (Uncle Neal) and “Gigi” (Auntie Grace). Resistance is futile; baby brother will be assimilated…
