The breakwater at Nambucca Heads has become a public art display. I don't know if I like it - it seems to be a bit like graffiti in a beautiful spot. On the other hand it does seem to be serving a community purpose. Many families come back each year to update their rock. Some items are memorials to past family members, some are group items such as the indigenous hands drawn in the aboriginal colours, some are sporting groups.....
Painting murals on the sides of buildings is a new "old" thing here. I think they're finding that people are less-likely to put graffiti in these places when people can turn them into their own personal artwork. Nice shot.
@olivetreeann I think you must be right there Ann - Each rock was virtually "owned" by a group - many who seemed to come back each year to add to them. And nobody painted over another group's rock - it seemed to be very much a community project. Cheers Rob
