Open Space photo walk #10

Here is another one I wasn’t sure about how to compose. I tried focusing in on the center details, but it totally lacked any context and I didn’t like it as an abstract either. I chose this one because I could see up the length of the trunk as well and I liked the lichen.

This is lovely and I can see why you chose it.
The wood grain has lovely textures and then the bark and lichen add more interest. Very nice shot, fav.

I like it too, it almost looks like a face in the texture.

It is a gorgeous log - both the grain of the wood and the bark of the tree.

How to compose the shot is one of those artistic decisions that has more to do with how you see the scene before you than what is technically correct. That kind of sight and how it's composed is really up to you and there's no right or wrong. The pattern in the bark is really interesting to me. Good catch!
