this is my little Christmas tree at work. it once belonged to partner's mother when she started to stay at a senior's home. we wanted to make her room cheery by putting this little tree on her coffee table. it got mixed up with our house decorations and i thought i'd bring it to work to distract people from the chaos of my messy work station :-)
i didn't put up our Christmas tree this time. but when i first came to canada, i bought a big real tree and spent so much money decorating it with tinsels, ribbons, lights, sparkly fruits and other ornaments. but it was a lot of hard work, making sure there's water in the container, then the needles started to fall off and that was a bitch to clean up.
growing up in the old country, my mother went everywhere to find her perfect Christmas tree which was a large branch off a tree, painted it then placed her old lights around it. we decorated it with our little toys. after the holidays the lights were stored away, the toys were back to being played with and the tree ended up in the fire stove. you see, we poor people in the third world knew how to recycle even back then.
thank you for your views and comments; i shall catch up with yours shortly.
A perfect Christmas tree. It's a lovely gesture. My trees have gotten smaller over the years. One year my daughter and husband were out of the country and it was just my son and I. I didn't decorate but did get a small (1 foot tall) potted tree and put it next to the fireplace. It was pathetic. Ha! I remember the presents were bigger than the tree. My son still reminds me of that tiny tree. ;-)
Happy holidays to you! I have been so busy with changes at work and home I've had no time for 365. Please post pics of Niagara - never been there in the winter!
He's a cheery little fellow which is what they're meant to be when they're that size! I love the live trees too- and although I've been tempted to go to artificial because it would be so much easier, I just can't bring myself to do it! Nice processing!
such a pretty high key shot... sounds like your way back in the old country made a ton of sense... yeah... a real tree is a pain... and i am convinced i am allergic to them... but we get one every year nonetheless!
