canny nanny to the wire by summerfield

canny nanny to the wire

we brought little ivy jean and young jack to see the horses for the first time. both of them were so excited. however, due to the weather, the horses were not paraded down the paddocks. the wind today was really nasty the flags at the track were constantly flying horizontal.

thought i'd do some panning shots but i didn't set my camera correctly so i had this photo as a result. nonetheless, i'm happy to have caught the winning horse in mid-air as well as the second horse as they approached the finish line. young jack correctly predicted canny nanny (#5) was going to win so he went home with $15 to his name. sadly, that was the only race for the afternoon as the rest of the races were cancelled due to strong winds and two storms approaching.

thank you for your kind visits and comments; know that they are greatly appreciated.
Very nice shot....seeing the horses is the only reason I go to the races in our town....such beautiful animals!

Great capture! Moving objects are challenging--I've been practicing but have a long way to go.

I bet young Jack was very happy with his prediction! Wonderful action capture. I love how graceful the Thoroughbred looks when running.

It looks like you were the camera set up at the finish line to insure the correct identification of the winner. Good catch-literally!
