do not go into that photographic night without thine tripod
i went back downtown after work for two reasons: to do night shots and to go back to the office as i forgot the cheese i bought earlier that i left in the fridge. i got the cheese. i was going to take night shots. there was one problem.
i forgot to bring the friggin' tripod. then i thought i have an extra one underneath my desk. i forgot to grab that, too! what a loser! that dampened my photographic mood so i just walked over to the city hall. at least there are seats and ledges around there where i could prop my camera. foiled again! too much poops in those ledges and seats. i mean where do people seat during the daytime?
then i felt a little bit hungry and i walked over to one of the nice bistros we go to during the day. full of people! it then occurred to me that the Toronto International Film Festival was on. people are either going to screenings or trying to stand by in the hope of catching one of the celebrities visiting town.
i decided to just go home and get another stab at light painting.
@summerfield - Hi yeah havnt been around much for a while. Been dealing with printing/mounting a number of my images for my firm to use in it's office redesign. Ive learned a lot and great seeing my work at 6x4 feet. Firm has the big bucks to do it all museum quality. Also on Flickr more. Nice to see you're still around.
A pretty darn phenomenal tripodless night shot. How funny that you kept forgetting, that having a tripod was so not gonna happen for you. Go back sometime with a tripod so that we can compare both shots. A super scene. Love the flare on the building and fountains all lit up. You must be pretty steady!
looks blooming good to me! Tripod or no tripod. A thought for you - Why not carry a tiny plastic bag in your pocket then you could prop camera on seats even where poop has been deposited? Then turn inside out and tie up to keep your hands clean.
@summerfield - hahaha yes thx ;-) We printed on this fabulous paper and face mounted with silicon on 1/4 inch plexi that is like eye glass quality and on back mounted on dibold with an aluminum brace. So it floats off the wall We've done 5 so far and they will order about 8 more.
Love the title! I never seem to have my tri-pod with me when I want to take a night shot either! LOL! I usually end up setting my camera on a ledge or the roof of my car to steady it!
@northy - i propped the camera on top of my shoe on a ledge and my finger underneath the lens. then i fiddled with focus using live view with my left hand. hahaha! i'd rather touch my shoes than the ledge.
This is lovely, great colour. One day I will be in a position to do some night photography! @michaelelliott congratulations on getting your pictures printed. They sound amazing! Now I have another reason to visit New York City!
@michaelelliott Wow!! I bet they look awesome. If I ever get into NYC, I'd love to see that!!
