gheez! that was from almost 50 years ago when i started high school. my friends were so pre-occupied with boys and we would fill in slam books and such. one thing i do remember them do is take the name of the boy and cross out as many letters that corresponded with the letters of "flames". f for friendship, l for love, a for admiration, m for marriage (jesus murphy!), e for engagement and s for sweetheart. then of course they were so agog over a boy named "victor" the letters of which matched none of those in 'flames' and it was one big dilemna for them. hahahaha!
this is bad. i am remembering things from so long ago that i never paid attention to. i also remember that they would always use or borrow my notebooks so they can write down these stuff and no one would know they have a crush on someone. then others would see my notebooks and they'd thought i was the one with a crush on somebody. i only had a crush on two guys in high school, the rest of them i beat up or were my friends.
i'm on textures today for the flash of red challenge. i know, i know, that's being covered next week. but i came home late from work and i have a bad tummy ache and this is all i could come up with. it's a nice candle holder, made of ceramic, and holds one small tealight candle.
also for the f-word challenge, this one for flame.
also for my get pushed challenge, set by laura @la_photographic and her challenge was to create a minimalist photo.
thank you for your kind visits and comments; know that they are truly appreciated.
Fun memories and wonderful shot. I was such a crush girl way back when. Just awful. And most I didn't even know. Such an idiot in high school. Glad I mostly grew up. And I married one of my many many crushes, who'd have thunk it? Love your textured glowy candle shot. Feel better, my friend!
Sheesh we are supposed to be doing a theme each week for the flash of red?! how did I miss that? i am feeling good to be getting an interesting B&W let alone adding another twist to it!
This is a terrific B&W! I love the composition and texture!
@grammyn - you don't have to if you don't want to. :-) just keep plugging away. i'm reading the book so trying to understand as much as i can (or pretend i understand tee-hee!)
Good shot- and this works well for shape and form too- so you've still got this week covered! Feel better my friend! (Oh, and I think you're remembering these things because they are entertaining little snippets of life!)
Wow...f-word...minimalist and flash of red...you nailed it, but then, you always do! Lovely photo! But now to the Slam Books! I was thinking of mine the other day and how they were not unlike things that are written on FB today! I hate that my mother must have thrown mine out...what I'd give to read through it now...silly as it might be! Kids...NEVER throw away any sort of journal! HA!
@Weezilou - hahaha! i made slam books for my classmates because of my calligraphic penmanship, so i made money out of it, just like i did with my notes during exams. that's how i enjoyed the juvenile stuff. makes me wonder sometimes why i never got rich with all the ways i tried to make money. life is such an enigma, ain't it? thank you, my friend.
A fav.
This is a terrific B&W! I love the composition and texture!
