being stranded on an island's fun

not the island that's surrounded by water, but the island that separates a six-lane carriageway. this family's vehicle is partly parked on the left lane of the westbound carriageway and the concrete island that separates it from the eastbound lanes. the man is holding the cables already connected to their car as they wait for the car that would rescue them. the boy wears a superman t-shirt while sitting on the opened hood of the car as the father seemingly explains to him what those cables could do, as the mother patiently and cautiously watches traffic and possibly on the lookout for the rescue car. meanwhile, traffic slows down as the other drivers rubberneck.

for the street challenge and the six-word challenge both currently on now.

i'm hosting the mundane challenge this go-round. i invite you to put in an entry or two; it just might wake your missing mojo, that is, if you are suffering from it right now. rest your head on a pillow and let creativity and camera take over. http://365project.org/discuss/themes-competitions/28509/new-mundane-challenge-pillow
I hope that they didn't have to wait too long for assistance.

I would question your definition of fun and so might these people but then I suppose fun is where you find it. It is a nice shot of every day occurrences and definitely tells a story.

I love the creative way you made a bid for your mundane challenge entries

Were you in a drive by situation going the other way? I wouldn't like to be in their situation thats for sure!

It isn't a story I would like to be in the middle of - I would certainly choose a different island. You did, however engage me with the story and have me wondering about the outcome and changing moods and attitude as the wait may have lengthened. As for the pillow talk - I'm already engaged. Thank you.

This dad sounds like my husband. Always a chance to teach the kids something. Great slice of life!

I have a picture (from many years ago now) of my sons playing soccer on the grass median that divided the east/west bound interstate highway. There was a huge accident ahead and everything was at a stand-still. Some folks drove across the grass and went back the other way. We waited a while longer and the boys were bored so out came the soccer ball. Two college kids joined them. It looks pretty funny in the picture but who knows if either one of them remember! Fun shot.
