numbers and letters jumbled across my poor eyesight all day. papers in bright whites and folders in neon colours strewn all over my work station. the monitor screen made my eyes hurt staring at it, but closing them made me fall asleep. it was a tiring month-end day, even without the bosses to boss me around. to top it, assistants paused and chatted too often that made work kind of stop and go.
so after six, i had enough of work and its distractions. i was going to go home pronto but i didn't have any exciting leftovers at home so i thought i'd treat myself to a personal-sized pesto shrimp pizza with black olives and peppers. have not had that since january. i was going to complete it with a cinnamon sugar beaver tail but i thought i'd leave that for the weekend.
walking back to union station, i noticed the overhead pass all lit up, the vertical lights glowing gold and the silhouetted people walking through it were in contrast with the ones crossing the street. i stopped to retrieve camera and shoot.
i like the silhouette of a couple looking down at the traffic below them. the walkway was pretty with all the golden lights, but the photo looks real busy in colour. black and white makes you notice more the silhouette on the walkway. selective colouring was definitely not an option here.
this is friday night in this part of downtown toronto
wonderful capture, Vikki and narrative. am always amazed to view busy city life. have been away from such scenes for so many years they now fascinate me.
@summerfield ))) Oh my God! I'm your partner at Get-Pushed-219 . and I'm in shock. I watched your albums. you have a great photo. I propose an adventure - out of the comfort zone. my challenge will be to photograph small objects - - different figures: people, animals, buildings, from Kinder Surprise toys, some small souvenirs - something no larger than 10 cm, and to do so will be so that the impression that the objects are in the natural for their environment. ok? )))
An absolutely fabulous photo. I think I would have zoomed in on the silhouettes in the walkway and eliminated some of the busyness on the street below but I definitely think black-and-white was the way to go with this. Given the choice I think I would've skipped the pizza and gone for the Beavertail right away
I really like the contrast between two figures who've stopped to watch the scene below and the scene below barely recognizing they're there (yes, barely because someone was wise enough to take the shot!). Excellent black and white!
