on my way back to the office after my lunchtime walkabout, i took a quieter side street and nearly walked underneath this. the building is not a skyscraper unlike the others around it, so it doesn't have a large swing stage; in fact, this is just a mini-swing stage for this guy. he was just on the third floor level. i admire people who earn their living this way; he was even singing as he worked.
i apologize for my lack of commenting on your half-and-half photos, and hope to catch up in a couple of days.
tagging this for week 16 of the 52 captures challenge - people doing what they do.
Great capture! I remember when I worked in downtown Toronto, we'd sometimes see these guys appear at the window, feet first, then the rest of 'em on little swing-stages like this. I'm talking tenth floor, too. Made me dizzy just to see them.
Good seeing and almost an abstract image. I might have cropped the top off to remove that added reference. He is a little in shadow and it might help for have lightened him a tad, whilst darkening the background a tad. It is all to do with hierarchy of interest. The eye goes to the lightest part of the image, and you want us to look at him. I hope you don’t mind my critique?
No worries about not commenting either!
I think architects should think about putting the equivalent of windscreen wipers on these skyscraper windows, perhaps.
