i go for photoshoot and comes back with no 365! what in the world is happening?
at 10 o'clock on a saturday evening, this is how the downtown core looks like. taken just two metres south of the site where i took the june 1st photograph.
i have a lot to learn doing this night thingie and the old brain is having cramps. i set the self-timer so that now i have tons of beautiful photos that are in three's. the good thing is that i could probably make a slide presentation of the same scene from dusk to dark with all the changing lights, especially the tower. this one here is not the best night photograph you might get from me (but for once there was a lull in streetcars passing by which makes the ground tremble and screws up the focus), but it is better than a filler which i planned because the weekend is just too crazy. (note: this is sooc but for the framing and name tag.)
tomorrow is going to be another beautiful day, the weather network says, then it gets crappy as from monday as we get into the official summer date. so maybe i get crazy, too, tomorrow and do something like do the edge walk...which is unlikely because it's not open to the public until august.
it's not fun standing on the side of a dark road with a steep slope going to the soccer fields and right next to the trash bin where the hobos like to check if there are some leftover of anything that is worthwhile to them. they didn't bug me, one man was saying he does not understand why people go there to take photos and politely asked when i would be finished because the bench is his 'bed' for the night. some young people who won their soccer match asked me to take their group photos with the city as the backdrop, using 3 iPhones (theirs).
and yes, happy father's day to all the fathers in my 365 circle.
I like all the lights and then the colors of the tower. Glad you keep working on the night shots- challenge yourself and the results are good. Very sad that I so missed the site last evening also. Addicted.
Wasn't that frustrating last night?! Like Jann @jannkc said, addicted. Anyhoo, great shot and keep challenging yourself! This looks great and a really cool idea and edit. Your story to go along with the pic is funny as hell, too! Thanks for the wishes and have a great finish to your weekend!
@danig - whew! first comment and she likes it. thank god you like it. thanks, DG. @sensei - awww, my little boy thinks i rock. i love you, too, baby. @jannkc - thanks, jann. i had to read about aperture and some other things for night photography and they all sounded googly-goog to me. i did miss the site last night; killed the excitement of posting this shot really. in a way it was good because i was able to stay and read all the messages on my facebook account which dates to about mid april. ooopsy! thanks again, jann.
@slang - thank you, sean. i missed everyone and your photographs last night. but then i went to bed early and got a little bit more sleep so probably in a way that was good. no, i'm not addicted. i can quit this anytime i want (shivering, sweating and tense). hahahaha! yeah, maybe i'll give this night shots another go, but heck, i have a lot of fillers on file already!
@pamfromcalgary - thank you, pam. whenever i'm asked, i do oblige. sometimes, i see groups of people who would alternate with their cameras so i know for sure they'd want everyone in the picture and i'd offer up.
What an adventure you had! And this is a great skyline shot. I love the composition and the grouping of the buildings. You're such a great ambassador. You inspire me. ;-) I'm putting up my photo of the day dedicated to you.
@cscecil - thank you, CS. the site was down saturday night for several hours and this didn't get posted until sunday morning. thank you for your encouragement and kind words. @ilseal - hmmm, it does, doesn't it? thank you, ms. ilse.
@silverdraggin - thanks, meiska. i had other shots where i could see the sky was dark, but it came out dark blue in the photographs. i was quite upset because i was aiming for just the silhoutte of the buildings' shapes. and if anyone asks me for the f/ something and whatever else, i couldn't tell because i don't know :-)
@patticake - thank you, patti. i endured a lot of mosquito bites to get the 60-something shots and then wittled it down to this one.
