empire sandy is a tall ship that plies the waters of toronto harbour and lake ontario where passengers can have a "unique experience of sailing aboard an authentic Tall Ship while enjoying a dinner cruise". it has 11,000 square feet of sail and can carry 275 passengers and comfortably sits 180 guests below deck. the sails are hoisted when the ship departs. a complete dinner of steak and lobster costs $42.00 per guest (there are cheaper and lighter fares). upon disembarking you're treated to their special chocolate dipped strawberries.
so, if you find yourself in toronto with your hunny-bunny, tour the islands and the lake and have dinner at empire sandy. (wow! now i plug toronto's tourism. @jannkc is right, i should be compensated by the city for promoting it! :-))
I think if anyone comes to Toronto because of your 365 project they should contact the tourism group and put in a recommendation for you! Beautiful shot-
Ok now I WANT to go to Toronto. I've always wanted to cruise on a tall ship. And if I was to do that, I'd certainly splurge on the steak and lobster. Beautiful shot. Looks like it was a fabulous day.
@silverdraggin - lol! come, what's taking you so long? thank you. it is indeed a very beautiful long weekend, except we had a fierce thunderstorm last night.
@pamfromcalgary - thank you, pam. i did and in fact i reserved the whole ship just for us 365-ers! (when i win the lottery, i'd certainly do that for real!)
@altadc - thank you, alta. let me know when you're coming. bring @the_urstoff with you!
@bkbinthecity - thank you. i think i had taken a shot of empire sandy in full mast a long time ago. if one day i find myself without an interesting photograph to post, i'd find it and post it.
@eddyj - thank you, eddy. @catsmeowb - about time you make return visit to toronto and get re-acquainted with the city. the dinner on the tall ship is a lovely experience. @ilseal - toronto thanks you for the compliment, ms. ilse. and i thank you, too! @jobesekama - thank you, beth. ooops! i didn't realize that either, so thank you. it's an honour.
yes, you should be being compensated...Summerfield's Photographic Toronto Experience :-)
great shot of TS Empire Sandy...in another life (before I was in a road traffic accident in Thailand in 1997 that meant I was no longer eligible for Merchant Navy Sea Service) I used to work on various tall ships at sea (taking young people for life skills training)...I have 25,000 sea miles and have sailed in the Med, the Baltic, the waters around Europe including the North Atlantic, all round Australia and also Japan to Hong Kong and back. I used to climb 160 feet up those masts at least ten times a day! What an adventure...
@meggageg @sunnygreenwood - it is a lot of fun. thank you, ladies.
@jannkc - good idea, jann! hahaha. thank you.
