looking through the many photos i took while in niagara falls during the weekend, i found (and suddenly remembered) quite a few shots of the skywheel, a giant ferris wheel.
the skywheels is massive! it takes you 175 feet above the falls for a good bird's eye view of niagara and vicinity. this is so massive that it moves so slowly, in fact in both shots, the ferris wheel was moving. also it is so white that both day and night shots seem like they were negatives. therefore, i had to cross process them to make it a bit interesting.
Really stunning, summerfield. Fantastic angle and wonderful linear composition. Gee . . did you go on this ride?!! Now THAT scares me. That's a long way up . . nope, don't think that I'd go on that one. lol
@karenann - thank you, karenann. and no, i didn't go on that ride. but as i was typing my caption, i kicked myself in the but when i realized i should've. why didn't i think of that? i really don't like going on these rides, but it was going so slow anyway, it would've been a good photo op!
Great shots! This is one of the few rides I don't mind going on. It just takes forever to get it going and then to get off. Depending on the day, I imagine a ride would provide some nice photo ops.
i would think it would have been very cold out there on that ride, hanging over the falls suspended that way in the wind! bbbrrrrr. great photo op better left for another day. these are wonderful shots just the way they are! really like how the cross processing worked on these. nice job.
Awesome shot Summerfield and the processing is perfect! I would have thought of going on the ride but at 175ft and my fear of heights it wouldn't have happened! Although Jeff loves ferris wheels- and the few that he's convinced me to go on have aged me at least 10 years each! I love the positive/negative balance you have here by putting the two shots together. Great idea!
@pamfromcalgary - thank you, pam. i'm thinking a clear day in the mid or late spring should be the most ideal. if you find yourself in toronto let me know and we'll drive over to niagara and ride the ferris wheel with @karenann
@karenann - i thought you might. :-) it would be great then. thank
@catsmeowb - it shouldn't be so windy or cold as the each car (do you call that cars or capsules?) is enclosed. the effect probably would be the cars moving or bobbing during high winds which i would imagine would be enough reason to stop the operation. i should've gone on it. i didn't even think about it. aaaarggghhh!
@cscecil - thank you, CS. i would think that if i'm able to fly in an airplane, ferris wheels shouldn't be so bad. except when something happens like the motor stops running, or the operator was kidnapped and we're suspended in mid-air and kingkong is coming and you're in the next car. hehehe!
@olivetreeann - thank you, ann. 10 years each time, eh. hmmm. interesting. there's a terrific science fiction story there. :-)

@sanera - well, next time, eh? thank you.
@bkbinthecity - no, i've not been on it at all, but i'm seriously thinking about it, if only for the photo op! thank you, brian.
@steeler - thank you, howard.
@danig - thank you, DG. you coming?

@slang - i might just give it a try this weekend if we go there, for the sake of the project. thank you, sean.
