the 'andenne' by summerfield

the 'andenne'

friday 1

this is the front entrance of the low-rise appartement building where i live.

i came to canada at the height of the economic boom when rental prices of apartments in the city were at a premium. i had always set my sights into renting in this building. i like buildings with character and this had lots. i like the green canopy and that was one of the selling points for me. also, i like to live in a building with a name. my first apartment was in a building called "the castellana". this building, the "andenne" was where i wanted to live because when i lived in belgium a few years before i came here, i lived in a flat in andenne.

it was a beautiful community and i would always go to the plaza sitting in the sun with my books, notebooks and pens, writing and reading, or by the river listening to music on my walkman and watched the fowls and the small boats that passed by. i didn't have much but when you're in love you didn't care about the material things.

so when i moved to this building in 2006, it was what you could call a dream come true.

cross-processed in ipiccy. tweaked the exposure just a tad bit to show the colour of the bricks - it was pouring rain this morning when i took this photo so the colours were kind of drab.

It's like this building (Adenne) was the next step in your life, after having lived on the very named street in Belgium! Love the connection! One must only live in buildings with character!!
