monarch park by summerfield

monarch park

two blocks south of my apartment building, there is a big park, with plenty of old trees. shown here is the western quarter of that park. that little patch of garden is where i mostly practice my macro shots.

the park has an artificial skating rink and an outdoor swimming pool that features a two-storey waterslide, a diving area and a separate wading pool. when we moved in this neighbourhood in 1988, we used to frequent the pool, and this is where the son, nephews and nieces learned to swim in the summer and skate in the winter.

i got photobombed, check this posting: http://365project.org/summerfield/365-again/2012-06-05

Monarch Park is where my son slipped out through an unknown gate of a fenced in playground and was "lost" while my sister-in-law and brother-in-law were babysitting him one day while he was 4. I like these purple ball flowers =)

Wow. A verdant little scene. Lovely.

Sounds so nice! I love those spherical flowers...what are they called? I was just thinking that I don't see those around in parks here...but I guess I could buy some. Then I'd have to take care of them and make sure they live....it is easier to let someone else do that part!

lush and green and gorgeous!!!

We have a couple playgrounds around here, and a park not too far away. They're not as convenient as a couple blocks but they'll do! Lovely area.

How nice to have such a wonderful park so close by

@bkbinthecity - it is indeed. just on the long stretch of danforth avenue, east of yonge street, there are a number of parks sometimes with wading pools for children. there's a little 'parkette' four buildings east of mine. thank you, brian.

Gorgeous composition ...love those shadows and the color from the flowers. A beautiful park and looks so serene for all of the action that goes on there. A great place to visit for photo ops! How're you doing my friend?!!

Been a "trying" time, summerfield. Had to get a new computer and they are fixing the old one as well. Also had to change my bp meds, but I am fine with that. I am taking a couple of classes for photoshop (which I'll probably never use!) So I may be gone here and there ... and am also taking a few classes and going out on field trips in the area. I don't expect much improvement on my photos, but there's always something to learn as I know NOTHING!! :) And good to be back with you again. :)

Love the color combination of green and purple. The shadowy background really makes the colors stand out.
