ivy by summerfield

ivy

partner loves an ivy covered wall so last year i planted a stem given to me by a friend and it has grown like the bean stalk in jack and the beanstalk fairy tale. i forgot what it was called exactly but it has large broad, waxy leaves. kind of defeats the purpose for him, though, because to enjoy it he would have to be outside. and then of course he's always too busy to trim it.

Nice to see your ivy climbing the wall. It sure looks healthy! Nice contrast against the red brick wall too.

it looks like English Ivy -- which I have on my front yard -- and I keep trimming it back OFF of my brick house. As lovely as it looks climbing up the brick, I was told it eats off the mortar and does all kind of damage -- so I keep it off my walls but enjoy it on my yard. I DO love the look of it climbing up a house all the same!!!

@cscecil - someone told me about that, too. but we try to control it. if we ever see any damage on the bricks, i'll have it 'trimmed to the ground' hehe! thank you, CS.

Vines give such a distinctive look to architecture. Here in Jersey, we have the fabled Princeton University, where Einstein, John Nash and many other brilliant minds attended, taught and theorized. I've visited many times, not as a student, for I have the brain the size of a pea. But the old buildings are covered in ivy, which give it such great look. Looks like your ivy is growing good. Great capture. Like the composition, coloring and texture.
