partner and i were at a vintage cars show today and my mind's still reeling from all those old cars from the last century. all of them were gorgeous. i loved seeing the transformation of the car from a pretty open carriage type car with chains similar to that of the bike's!
this is the statue or mascot on the bonnet of a 1932 pierce arrow 54 series convertible coupe. the car was in tip-top condition, especially that it is still being used.
(I'm sorry, the first thing that popped into my head was, oh is he anatomically correct, were you able to tell? XD ) I like this hood ornament. Never seen one like this. Very cool. Beautiful shot. 8)
Nice one- we were at a car shot yesterday too. I had a Cormorant from the hood of a Packard. Would have been a great shot but cut off the top of the wings. Just like the old days of cutting off heads. Now to get used to my camera again :(
@pamfromcalgary - thank you, pam; i haven't really learned how to use the darn camera. i just fiddle with the buttons and if something is right, i stay with that setting. there are some shots though that require autofocus, especially when 'director partner' is with me. :-)
@bkbinthecity - thank you, brian. i think this was in production for just under 10 years in the 1930's, so there's not a lot of these cars going around maybe. i love seeing old cars, especially when they are beautifully made. if i have some knowledge of car engines and i have money, i'd love to have one these vintage cars.
@myautofocuslife - hahaha! thank you, livia. no, i don't think it was anatomically correct, or i'd have seen it first. and i'd have taken a photo of it first! naughty girl!
@steeler - thank you, howard. you'd have loved being at the car show. i think in the afternoon there'd have been vintage bikes, but no bikes had arrived by the time we left at lunch time.
What a gorgeous hood ornament ... they just don't make pieces like this anymore! In fact, I can't remember when they stopped putting them on. Now all new cars look about the same to me and we can no longer marvel at the craftsmanship. Beautiful capture and pov! Very elegant and grand. I would have enjoyed that show too.
i really like this shot. we also went to a car show this weekend and i took many shots of hood ornaments and pressure release valves instead of the cars themselves. can see cars any old time.
