man's landing on the moon was like a coming of age for me, even though i was already 15 at the time. as young children back in the old country, we always believed that there's a man on the moon, and he was looking down on us children and guided us so that we would not go astray. i believed that he wore a crown and sat on an anvil, because that's what i saw every time i looked at a full moon. of course our science subjects in school dispelled that belief, but the apollo 11 landing permanently made me cast aside that belief. i swear the man was gone after that moon landing.
so this is my tribute to the late mr. armstrong who forever changed the way i looked at the moon, and who now has reached a higher heaven than what we see.
took these today, the airplane while at the race track, and the moon earlier this evening when i went jogging. processed in ipiccy, not the pesky picmonkey that's been giving everyone some grief.
thank you, ladies and gentlemen, for your kind visits and precious comments; know that they are sincerely appreciated. and if you are so inclined, my awesome-august post can be viewed here: http://365project.org/summerfield/365-again/2012-08-26
Funny how some things are impossibilities in our minds and then they happen so we must adjust. I remember thinking there was no way anyone would want to be seen while they talked on the phone- and now there's skype.
Now this is COOL! For a moment, I was like "How did she get THAT shot ?" So in Ipiccy, it just lets you lay one photo over the other as a transparent layer? Picasa does that...so if they line up okay, it is easy. Otherwise, I have to go in GIMP and select a part of photo and paste in another, which should be easy, but is not. Haha So when Armstrong landed on the moon, it sort of killed your man in/ on the moon belief. That is kind of sad. :0(
Hi Vicki! We've been paired up for the Get Pushed 6 Challenge! You have such a variety in your photos, I really like all that you have done, and to find something different to "push" you has me a bit perplexed. My challenge to you for Get Pushed Week 6 is to show me something in vibrant abstract, if you so choose to accept the challenge. Something to make me wonder what it is? Make the normal look abnormal, make it colorful too. I look forward to seeing what you come up with!
Good luck and have fun!
Wonderful picture! And a neat tribute. I also love that song - my Mom played it regularly on the old record player when I was growing up. Frank Sinatra vocals.
Beautiful tribute. The thing I love about your photography, is your narratives that you intertwine with the capture. It makes it more real. Great capture. The lyrics fit perfectly.
