better in black and white by summerfield

better in black and white

here's the parkette from the corner angle. thankfully there was not a lot of people tonight so it was a breeze to do some photographing. partner did not like the dog and person on the left, but i thought they gave a feeling of reality to the setting.

i have actually passed by this parkette so many times but i never paid mind to it until i started doing this photography thing. and i could actually see the beauty in the displays.

if you are so inclined, please view a different angle of the tree and the parkette, in colour: http://365project.org/summerfield/365-again/2012-12-16

thank you for your views and comments; they are much appreciated.
could be a greeting card. lovely night shot

Looks very good in black and white I like people in some of my shots although in this one I think I would have wanted them out of it

this is awesome, like your processing

@sunnygreenwood - why, thank you, anne. very kind of you.

@salza - thank you, sally. i find myself processing some of my shots in black and white (in camera) just to see how well a place photographs. although i love colourful lights, i must admit some look better in black and white and to me this is one of those shots. i think i might do a month of black and white in january. might.

@bkbinthecity - looking at it now, yes, i know what you mean. luckily, i do have a shot of the same angle after the dog walker has gone through. thank you, brian.

@abhijit - just a simple conversion in camera. i'm starting to like black and white now. thank you, ab.

beautiful in both b&w and color - i might like the color a tad better
December 17th, 2012
i like them both - although, and i am surprising myself by saying this as i am such a fan of b&w, in this case, i prefer the color version.

Congratulations - a super shot. I might have been tempted to Photoshop out the lamp but I know many have strong views about such behaviour. I really like the composition.

@eniaral - thank you, laraine.

@catsmeowb - hey, you're back! i think the colour version is more attractive because these are Christmas decors and we always associate colours with Christmas. thank you, camille.

@gooner46 - wow, thank you, chris. i, in fact, tried to clone out the lamp but maybe because i'm not good with it that it turned out crappy so i just as soon gave up.

@cscecil - thank you, CS.

I like the b/w! You can get that light out of there- you just have to make the brush smaller and be a little patient with it. I know that's a tall order for you, isn't it? (o:
