........looking a bit the worse for wear. His tail feathers are decidedly scraggy. Could this perhaps be because he's being rather too energetic with his little harem of 4 ladies. Perhaps they're being too demanding.

Or he had a near miss with a car? Pheasants have a habit of just walking out in front of cars without a care in the world. I think they are lovely but I'm sure their feet are bigger than their brains.
