This is a very Chicago design that you'll see in many forms. It's traceable to the impact of architect Frank Lloyd Wright on Chicago and surrounding area architecture. Oak Park, a suburb just outside the city, is the site of a museum dedicated to his work, as well as of walking tours of the several homes he designed in the area in the late 1890s and early 1900s. Robie House is one of his more famous restored mansions, on the grounds of the University of Chicago. Not surprisingly, I love his designs for their highly geometric forms. I took this tonight through the window of the home of the Chicago Architectural Foundation gift shop, which features an extensive section of Wright-influenced items. Oh, and the Tiffany lamps were the stained glass ones popular in the 1800s and again in the 1960s or so.

Nice composition! I've always been attracted to the shape and stained glass shades of Tiffany lamps. I have one in my den on a side table and I love it.
Great shot Taffy. I like these lamps, they remind me of the hotel we stayed in whilst in Prague, which was a converted theatre in the Art Nouveau style. The lift (elevator!) was amazing but unfortunately I didn't get a good shot of it.
Wonderful Shot. I recognize the pattern. Have toured his school in Scottsdale AZ. Thanks for the info. I really like the composition and lighting, I think even "Frank" would be pleased.
Very good shot through the window! Love FLW! I was given a Lego set of his Imperial Hotel in Japan, which I will be putting together when I have a few free moments!!
@taffy I didn't know, either!! Here it is: http://shop.lego.com/en-US/Imperial-Hotel-21017 Notice how it is for 1-16 year olds!! Such a nice and thoughtful gift, but I am like "I need another project like a hole in my head"!
Tiffany is extra bling!
Great capture.
