Rusty Fencing by taffy

Rusty Fencing

I wanted to post something for 365's first glorious rusty Tuesday (GRT). The light was good on this median on Harrison Street, in front of our college. And when light is good, it brings out the rust on so much of our fencing. Good for GRT, not so great for the fencing. Thanks Catherine, for starting this tag!
nice

Very cool pov, lovely rust!

Funny how chains go rusty - it must be what they are made of! But they look good!

@twr @salza @maggiemae Thank you so much for visiting the album and responding positively to our rust!

Taffy, Groupon has a deal for the Chicago Museum of History. It that a photo friendly place? How close is it to Millennium Park?
September 25th, 2013
@bill_fe Bill, is it the Chicago History Museum (this is the one near Lincoln Park and the Zoo, walking distance to the lake shore) or the Field Museum which is the natural history museum on museum campus, near the planetarium, the walking path on the lake shore park, past Buckingham Fountain on the way to Millennium. If you let me know which one it is (or if you can tell from the address), I can give you a better sense. Or, just know if it's the one on North Clark Street, it's a bus ride away from Millennium, or on a nice day, about a 30 - 40 minute walk south. If it's the one on Lake Shore Drive, it's about a 20 - 30 minute walk north and a little more isolated from public transportation (but do-able).
September 25th, 2013
@bill_fe Ooops...one more answer -- I've not been to the one on North Clark, but in terms of photo friendly, it's a great area to photograph as it's right across from Lincoln Park. I'm guessing that much of what is there IS photo-friendly inside, but they may have restrictions on a few of the exhibits. It's on my list of places to visit but I haven't gotten there yet.
September 25th, 2013
@taffy Yes, it is the one on N. Clark. I'll see if I can interest the Madison Photography Meetup group in going there for a day/night.
September 25th, 2013
@bill_fe Let me know if you all come in and I'd try to meet up as well. The zoo closes at 5:00 BTW, but if weather permits, that area is a great one for walking over to the lake and getting some good golden and blue hour shots. And there are a lot of buses and an L stop not horribly far away to get to other areas.

Kim
Great perspective - love the rust. Nice find.
September 25th, 2013
@taffy Thanks Taffy, I sent an email to the group asking them to respond to the discussion board posting. I'll check tomorrow morning and see if there are any responses, so far nothing...

Fence bokeh! :) Awesome rust too.
September 26th, 2013
@taffy @bill_fe Still really want to do that Chicago meetup, now that you are back in town, Taffy. But I need more than a day or two notice, Bill. (Plus I'm traveling this weekend.) Definitely a longer-out plan we should make!
September 26th, 2013
@archaeofrog i @bill_fe why don't we just plan something? Junko's back the end if this month too. Maybe toward the end of october?
September 26th, 2013
@jyokota. See above.

Funny (strange) how beautiful rust is ...especially in this photo!
September 26th, 2013
Very nicely glorious rusty fencing, and fabulous lighting for it.
September 26th, 2013
@archaeofrog @bill_fe @taffy -- I'm home in Chicago on September 28 and am looking forward to a meetup photo walk! Count me in! :)
September 26th, 2013
Great perspective. And thanks for explaining about the GRT. Now I know why there were so many "rusty" shots!!
September 26th, 2013
@archaeofrog Katie, it's just the Groupon that needs to be purchased now, it can be used up to 90 days after purchase. No one has replied to the discussion, I may just post a Meetup. I'll try to get a consensus on a date.

@jyokota @taffy @bill_fe Is the weekend of Oct 19th mid enough? I might be unavailable that next weekend.
September 26th, 2013
@taffy @archaeofrog, I'm busy on the 26th of October, but the 19th would work for me.
September 26th, 2013
@jyokota See above.
September 26th, 2013
@jyokota
@archaeofrog @bill_fe the 19th works for me.
September 26th, 2013
@bill_fe @archaeofrog @taffy -- for me, October 19 does not work. I studied my calendar, and the only weekend dates in October I have available are the mid-afternoon - evening on Oct 5, any time Oct 6. So, please feel free to go ahead without me since my weekend availability is so limited. Weekdays I am much more flexible, but I know Katie is a teacher and has a M-F regular schedule.
September 26th, 2013
@jyokota darn. That's when we go to BI.
September 26th, 2013
@taffy Are you going to BI on the 19th or the 5th & 6th? I'll be camping the weekend of the 5th & 6th.
September 26th, 2013
5th and 6th I am gone. But the 19th works well for me in Chicago.
September 26th, 2013
@taffy @bill_fe @jyokota I will be in the UP the weekend of the 6th but sounds like at least three of us could go forward with the weekend of the 19th ...
September 26th, 2013
Great pov and dof!
September 26th, 2013
great texture and pov
