What a difference a day makes. Yesterday we had cold but clear skies with interesting cloud formations as the sun set - http://365project.org/taffy/365/2014-01-09
Today, as temperatures warmed a bit -- still well below freezing, but enough that the lake is generating huge amount of mist and fog -- the city had disappeared. This was taken from the same spot as my shot on Dec 14th, but using a telephoto lens - http://365project.org/taffy/the-also-ran-ph/2013-12-14. Even with the different lens, you can see what is not visible today.
@archaeofrog@annied THanks Katie and Annie! I'm not sure, Katie. I was hoping to photograph some ice buildup and drove over to the lake about 4:15. Everything was so foggy that without the processing to bring some of this out, it looked just solid white. I didn't have time to go anywhere else -- slammed with work stuff so it was only a short break. I'll be disappointed if after all this, I don't get any ice shots!
Oh how odd that you have the weather we should have here right now but instead we got the rain. Looks like that whole city is swallowed by mist but I love the fog, so I love this. Sorry you have the freezing weather there, it´s not fun.
More and more I enjoy visiting your site for wonderful Chicago photography and "news & weather" updates! When weather blows through Chicago, I'm always curious how my family is doing, but she's busy running her store & doesn't have as much spare time to chat...haha!
