Sablet Clock Tower by taffy

Sablet Clock Tower

While in France, we stayed in a tiny village called Sablet, near Vaison La Romaine. Just above the house we'd rented was the church and clock / bell tower -- a gorgeous stone building that glowed a golden color at night and could be seen from miles away. It helped keep us from getting too lost driving home after dark!
This is so gorgeous! Amazing, isn't it, that we can have such beauty around us wherever we go...and the variety is breath-taking!

Amazing angle and so very sharp and crisp. Even the power lines make for lovely curves. Fav.

Great choice of b/w! I like your perspective as well! Drat to those stinky power lines.

Love the perspective and POV

Great viewpoint and comp with the steps on the left leading up to the high tower. The power lines seem to have played tricks on the hdr-conversion...pity! Great picture nevertheless!

A lovely composition, and very evocative of France.
May 26th, 2014
Beautiful capture, like the framing by the powerlines

@elaine55 Haha! I don't think I'm carrying on well at all! My computer is full, everything is a major hassle, so I'm still processing those photos that I had liked from France. We've been in Barcelona since Saturday afternoon and I have barely downloaded and backed up! And hardly any commenting time at all...So, thanks for making me feel better! It's' been a great trip and choosing photos to work with and post will be hard...

@ericdibosco Yeah - I loved this scene but couldn't do a think re the power lines. One of those things that maybe someone in the group with better editing skills could have gotten rid of them. Anything I did made it worse, and I did love the composition otherwise.

@taffy sometimes we have to accept these things...

Great shot

Looks beautiful - great processing

@taffy @ericdibosco Someone on Flickr once told me about a programme where you can remove power lines really easily, I will check it out and let you know on the group page.

Wow, so beautiful!
May 27th, 2014
@elaine55 there is a similar plugin for lightroom...haven't tried it.

I like how the B&W brings out all the details of the stone and bushes. Great shot! Haven't had much chance to comment myself lately, but enjoying your trip very much through your eyes.

A beautiful shot! I understand the feelings about the power lines. I confess I would have cloned them out. I know it takes a bit of time but in this case I would have used a small "brush" and made it really tight so that the sky "color" was even. But that's just me. As Frank noted you used the power lines perfectly IN the shot so they really don't detract from it at all.
