Hiding in Plain Sight

P3 checking in...trying to blend into the background as I peruse my city. Do you know this building? It has two names -- the new name that we ignore and what we think is the real name before they changed it.
Please visit me and my friends on the 365toygroup site. Today was my posting day!

This is the Willis Tower, formerly the Sears Tower. Designed on the shape of cigarettes being tapped out of a packet :)

Love this!! How did you manage this shot?
November 20th, 2014
I'm terrified of heights, but where we were in Chicago we went to the viewing area, I just couldn't get out on the Ledge. P3 has found a great hiding place :)

Awesome

See Taffy, new vistas! How's the new home? Only this morning we were talking with a NS friend about "the name change" and how it goes unacknowledged. IMHO, "Willis" just lacks dignity... "Sears" at least had historic significance in America. I'm pleased to see you're having a good time as you and P3 settle in!

Interesting concept with your distant building and sharp silhouettes!

Great use of the image frame, love the menacing feel you have created.

Very cool and somehow haunting

You could do spy work you blend in so well.

Loving your penguin

Love the silhouette and this concept in general... Glad the number of "bad" things is dwindling in number and import...

Great capture! Lovely silhouettes with that huge tower lurking in the background!
November 21st, 2014
I will always know this building as the building formerly known as the Sears tower.

Oh, and cool capture. What is P3 standing on? It looks like napkins in front of him.
November 21st, 2014
@bill_fe He's standing on some bamboo that was part of a centerpiece of flowers someone sent us.

P3 is getting around, cool shot!

My, my, so philosophical and a climber of heights to boot. Love this one Taffy.

Fantastic picture. Congratulations on making the Trending Page. Well deserved.

This is awesome! :) At Skidmore, Owings, and Merrill, the architects who designed the Sears Tower, still refer to it thusly. I visited their offices during Open House Chicago. They're not about to change the name!! Love the shot.

@voiceprintz So glad you were able to see Chicago during the open house. I went last year and saw their offices too -- if I hadn't been in Australia, I'd have gone both days this year as I loved it! What was your highlight?
November 21st, 2014
My highlight was joining CAF so I can see more without having to wait until next year! :) There are so many opportunities to tour for no/low cost. ah...and with membership, I didn't have to wait in lines. Two highlights! ;)

DOes a great job blending in! Well done.
November 22nd, 2014
fabulously play of silhouettes.
November 22nd, 2014
@pixiemac I know what you mean about height, Sarah. I'm not feeling good that I can walk right over to the windows and look straight down! Working up to actually opening the door to the balcony some day. Maybe if the weather warms up?

This is such a wonderful shot!! And, yes, I do recognize the Sears Tower in the silhouette!! Who is this Willis guy?!! Changing the names of landmarks is a disgrace and abomination! How would they feel if the Empire State Building was called the Gates Tower, or the Chrysler Building became the Zuckerberg Tower?!
November 23rd, 2014
@panthora I so agree! Apparently Willis is connected to insurance. Money speaks these days...but it's frustrating that they don't keep the original name somehow or integrate it into the new name. Thanks for the kind comment!

I like the slightly blurry building. I'm finding it very interesting to photograph tiny objects and to want the backgrounds to show up!. This is a concept. I like the grey sky with the grey building
November 24th, 2014
It's still the Sears Tower to me and I've never been to Chicago! (Except to the airport on a layover which ended up as a night over!). Well, Mr. P, you can double as a gargoyle any time- you blend in really well!
