High Street Station in High Contrast by taffy

High Street Station in High Contrast

The city theme at the moment is NYC which is motivating me to return to my photos taken a few weeks ago while visiting there with @jyokota. I shot this in the subway station following our photowalk with @michaelelliott to the Manhattan Bridge. Michael and I took very similar photographs but processed them to our different visions -- always fun to compare, so if interested, here's a link to his: http://365project.org/michaelelliott/more-365/2015-10-15

Great lines!

Something very alluring about this shot. Wonderful lines leading the eye right into the curve at the back of the image - super viewed on black.

I like your much darker version Taffy! Gives a creepy feel with the line disappearing into the black hole. How come there are never people in these shots? When I was there you couldn't move for people!

Nice processing, Taffy....sure makes it look like you are disappearing into the depths of Hades, even if it says High Street!!

Super capture. When I first saw it, I thought of Northy. It reminds me of some of her shots.

Excellent. Fav!

Super b&w shot, great lines, composition

Love the strong graphic feel and the huge sense of perspective your converging lines and the diminishing size of pillars has created. Plus that almost insignificant line of small lights as the track goes round the corner is so important to the overall look of you image. Have you considered cropping out the light area on the left and cloning out the station name as I believe that they would make your strong image even better.

The strong leading lines really draw you into the shot,

Love your perspective and the high contrast works great. I never would have thought about it. I like the curve at the end and how the lights there keep your eye going

@bob65 What do you think? Thanks for the suggestion -- I had wanted the sign in it, but when I compared the two versions, I had to agree that this one is stronger.

Great lines, depth and b&w processing

I can see that you wanted the sigh, and it is always difficult taking something out because you as the author know it is missing, but I believe this is now a much stronger image.
