Junko's and my friend, Jan Gerber, is an artist who was exhibiting at this event at the Chicago Botanic Gardens (where I posted the fountain a few days ago). Her display involved a community of women who combine fabric/fiber artistry with storytelling. Each year there is a different theme, organized by Jan, and this year was obviously umbrellas. These are just some of the samplings from the display, which eventually becomes the basis of a book. Jan's is the middle on the right, representing her journey recovering from a concussion as a result of an automobile accident a few years ago. Each of the umbrellas represents a significant story in the artist's life.
@maggiemae Good point, Maggiemae! They are actually life-size, but small umbrellas. So in the middle photo, if a person about 5'7" was standing next to one, you'd be about at eye level to the top, so that you can see above and under them without contortion.
