Super leading line with great framing over the continuing leading line creating a path for the eye to move through the shot...great compostion, shapes, lines
This has so much going for it...strong leading line, wonderful texture and grittiness, great b and w. The balance feels off though...so weighted on the left
@jgpittenger The only way to shift the balance (I know what you mean), is to cut from the right but then I lose the arch. Do you have any thoughts about how I might balance it out? I love the texture in it and the columns so would do a little more work on it if I can sort out the problem.
Wow, in my feed this is above @darylo's Clingman's Dome. What a difference though both black and white and both sort of bridges. I get behind and never complete commenting so I try to go back where I left off and work up my feed. Both wonderful pictures
Do you by any chance have any more on the right? I don't think it would take much. I absolutely wouldnt cut off the arch. Maybe post this on flicker and see if anyone in the critique group has an idea?
@jgpittenger Great feedback! I went back to the original this morning and did have some additional space on the right. I re-edited because I also found that by bringing up the bridge in the distance through the arch and adding a bit more to the right -- and reducing contrast by a tad, the whole thing feels in better balance. What do you think? If still not 'there' I can post to Flickr, but at this point, I'm kind of happy with the changes. Needed to see it in the fresh light of day!
Brings back such memories from that evening of shaking on the bridge and taking photos with @michaelelliott ! I wonder if you cut off the left (including cutting out the distracting building behind the column) and enough of the bottom to balance the image it might draw the viewer more into the photo and toward the bridge itself.
