I Love to Swim! by taffy

I Love to Swim!

For a change of pace from urban scenes and b&w...taken during my photowalk with @ukandie1 at the Shedd Aquarium in Chicago. I thought this fish was really beautiful and wanted to do it justice.
@ukandie1 Still have some fish to process (as opposed to cook?). I've really enjoyed your jellyfish ones!

Beautiful, graceful, jewel-toned delight. Such a lovely capture. Can't wait till I get to go and try, too. Inspired by your photos and @ukandie1 's!

Just gorgeous! Is the lighting like this in the aquarium or is the black background from your processing? So beautiful and elegant? How wonderful that all you locals could visit for free on that day! Fav!

@pamknowler This was the background but I used saturation and contrast to bring up the color a bit, and luminescence to make it somewhat richer. The hardest part was getting rid of lights that were reflected in the glass in the front, and the ISO was high so there was a fair amount of noise I had to deal with. I was happy at the result, but it was a pain to clean up as I didn't want to change the colors of the fish.

Excellent work! Know what difficulties are there when shooting fish in an aquarium.

@taffy the result is well worth all that effort!

This is so great. What a gorgeous fish. I was glad to read your instructive comment because my very first thought was of the reflections on the glass.

Fantastic focus on that colorful fish.

@helenm2016 Thanks!! I was hoping it would look 'sea-like' and not aquarium-like!

Awesome picture and perspective.

Superb, certainly does the fish justice, it's quite spectacular. The way you've used the (almost) negative space focusses total attention on the fish.

I like your angle on this one and the fish colors are so vibrant. Nicely done.
March 6th, 2017
I like the minimal feel to this, and the lighting bringing my focus to the fish.

Quite mesmerising - it seems to be moving the longer I stare at it.
