Molyneux Globe by tinley23

Molyneux Globe

We had a great time at Petworth. A really pretty little town, and a stately home (Petworth House) with a stunning display of fine art and this fascinating 16th century globe.

A bit more info here if you’re interested: https://www.nationaltrust.org.uk/petworth-house-and-park/features/molyneux-globe-at-petworth-house
Isn't Petworth stunning?! Did you see the deer and any fauns?

@30pics4jackiesdiamond We did, but only from a distance as we had Rosie with us, and took it in turns to go around the house and gardens. The building itself is nothing particularly special compared to many others, but the items inside - WOW!

@30pics4jackiesdiamond Quite! Van Dyke, Turner, Blake, Gainsborough…. There aren’t many things that floor Dirk, but he came out to meet me in the courtyard and he was absolutely gobsmacked!

It would be particularly fascinating to see how they mapped the continents and countries not having the aerial technology we have now. And all those paintings- oooo- I would love seeing those. Nice shot!
