What better to ring in the new year than a one night stand! It's back!
This is how it works;
I have compiled a list of photography types and they have been selected randomly for this challenge! One type of photography, one night! You have one post for each category for each day of the week, just one! Post it and leave it! One post , one pic, one day. ...here's the list!
Mon. 7th - Black & White - pretty self explanatory
Tues. 8th - Candid - This can be said to be one of the purest forms of photography, which does not include any staged situations. Candid photography is all about being spontaneous!
Wed. 9th - Advertising - Advertising photography is all about creating the right environment to highlight the product to be advertised, in the best way possible.
Thurs. 10th - Architectural - is all about capturing images of different styles of architecture in different lights.
Fri. 11th - Selfie - The dreaded self portrait! Ugh! I was hoping this one didn't come up!
Sat. 12th - Street - This is all about capturing candid images of public places or even people in their natural element.
Sun. 13th - Macro - This style of photography is completely about close-up images of a specific subject.
There it is! Some are fun, some are a little challenging, some are down right horrifying! :o)
What makes this challenge fun is we all go through it together! One pic and leave it for the next! Tag your post ONS3 so we can all see each others works of art!
I hope you get lucky! ;o)
@doyouseewhatisee Great! :) @tctime I know! I was ready to throw that one back in the hat! @tigerdreamer You can do it! (that's my Rob Schneider impersonation) :o) @nikkic Awesome!
Dude - street on Saturday?? Guess I'll be doing one at a hockey arena ;D. Oh, and can we discuss simply removing the selfie as a type of photography for all future games? ;p
Since this is my second year on here I guess I should do one of these just to see how it comes out and I will have a goal each day this week. Selfie, not too cool on that one.
I'll probably give it a go. I had a selfie on my agenda this week anyway because my birthday is Thursday, and I realized my last selfie was on my birthday last year. Ugh, they're dreadful.
Ohhhh! I love the idea!! But since I have just joined, im not quite sure where to post the pictures? In my 365 and tag it? Or post it in the thread? Help, Im lost! =)
I think i have a good shot at making a go...I am not keen on the selfie. but recently some of my friends have posted less than flattering pictures of me on FB, maybe i can come up with something a little more flattering. @gphelps5 I look at your list everyday when i can find it...wish it were in a spot I can get to quick but i plan on working some of them soon. @mariyakey post to your album, tag it ONS3. There is a copy paste feature on the side of your album page. copy & paste to the thread.
hope that helps
I'm taking a different approach this year....I'm don't care if I take a picture every day or not... but will upload a pic a day. Can I participate even if I shoot a number of these on the same day and then upload on the appropriate day? Or, what if I switch the 9th and 11th? It would make more sense to me to do a selfie on my birthday
@sunshinephoto5 Dawn, I take a screenshot of @bulldog Graham's lists and track it in Evernote. Or you could email it to yourself. . .there is a text version of the list as well that you could just copy and paste.
@kvarnum you can post here to share it with people checking out the discussion but make sure you tag it ons3! Then click that tag on your pic or someone else's pic and it will take you right to the list of all pics with that tag!
I'm hanging out to see what people come up with for Candid coz I ain't got nuttin'!! I can see it being blurred with street. I've brought my camera with me to work. Not sure I'll get anything here but maybe I'll drive the streets after work and stop and prop somewhere and see what folk get up to.
@sheliwithani My thoughts were the same about this and street being very similar. I almost threw it back in the pile but I wanted to be true on how I select the photo types! Candid is a little different because it can be family, friends, or even pets in natural environments. Street seems to be a bit more gritty.
This is my second year and I want to try more challenges and themes so I'll give this a whirl ... although the thought of the selfie is downright scary!!! Any body part, right?
Ohhh, definitely... will try-:) but does "One night stand"picture has to be shoot only at nightime?------sorry,i'm a lil' slow here,explain it again please..:-)
voila! this is also intended to kick off the next mundane challenge... i had that post all ready to go and then it disappeared into the ether! sigh... off to try again!
Just found this and the picture I posted earlier today JUST happened to be B/W. Guess it's a sign that I should continue on with the rest of this ;)
Although I have to be honest a few of these topics scare the feces out of me!
Here's to challenging myself.
can·did /ˈkandid/
Adjective
Truthful and straightforward; frank.
Informal.
Straight Out Of Camera. This is me.
I must say, candid as a theme was hard for me to figure out. I can't take a photo of myself without me being aware... hence why I looked up the definition for other meanings!
This is another shot for the "one night stand" challenge. This one was candid. It was very hard for me to do. My family is very aware of my camera's focus beep. They catch me all the time. So this was taken when her sister was taking a photo of this hat to put on Etsy.
@taffy Not a dumb question at all! Go to the photo you want to post here. On the very bottom on the right side, below where it says Share, click on the copy/paste box. Once it's highlighted, you can copy it and then paste it directly here in the reply box. Hope that makes sense!
Explanation available by clicking on the photo. I broke my personal rule for 365 of taking no photos of people and diving into this challenge for the day!
Yeah, not my favorite type of photography but, hey, I'm generally a good sport. We were pretty rain-locked today - I really wish I had gone out and taken some lovely hazy landscape silhouettes but, no, I had to work. Dangit. Ah, well.
I took my kids out to eat tonight. A balloon artist was on site, twisting and tying and creating some fantastic balloon animals and such! His balloon work truly is amazing.
My advertisement shot - this ad could read "Give Santa What He Really Wants this Christmas Eve" or "Forget Milk and Cookies - Santa is on the Nice List this Year!"
Knitters often end up with sizeable yarn stashes. Help can be found in this workbook for great ideas on how to use the stash you already own. Buy it while it's on sale for $5.98 from $29.95!
@prinseslo You might need to tag Jerry... if you click on the reply in the first box it will add the tag here where you type.. otherwise you can type it manually... Jerry is orangecrush with the @ directly in front of it with no spaces :)
@orangecrush
Hi Jerry
I'm new here on this website and I guess I have missed this toppic.
To bad because it gives me so much inspiration.
So I guess I will use it this week for myself, or are you going to post a new list?
Have a nice day
@prinseslo Hey Tamara! This has always been a fun challenge! I will do it again with a new list but not right away. If I post it too often, it's easy to get burnt out on it. Use this list and tag it ons3 and it will post with the rest of them so people can still check out your pics! It's never too late!
@sunshinephoto5
Thank you Dawn Reilly, It looks great!
I think I'll find a lot of inspiration there. @orangecrush
It really looks like a fun challenge to me.
Today I made an attempt for a macro pic, I tried to post it here, but I guess I have done something wrong..
Anyway, thank you for your reply
Here is my selfie: (I've never done one before, and I always hate pictures of myself, but I was pretty happy with this one and even more so after a little editing. I would love any suggestions on the photo or the editing!):
And my street shot, which I took more to mean "people in their natural element" since it was too dark and boring on the street last night:
@prinseslo To post a pic on a thread like this one, go to the picture, click the share box on the bottom right, copy then paste it in the write a reply box. Hope that helps @orangecrush Bravo, love the massive input to this challenge. Loving the selfies, etc that are on the pp from this challenge. Big thanks for managing it & looking forward to the next one
I want to add my thanks to all the others to Jerry for running this ONS. It was hard at times, but fun to force myself to try different things. Here's my macro to close out the week.
Macro @orangecrush thanks Jerry for putting this together it was loads of fun, and I am very happy with the pictures I took this last week and I loved seeing all the fantastic images that were posted too.Such a talented group of people!
looking forward to another ONS in the future!
@orangecrush Thanks for setting this challenge; I had a lot of fun with it and tried a few things I'd've not considered before. Nice one. I look forwards to the next time :)
I'll give this a go :)
I'll be thinking
Today is my first day, but I'll give it a go!

I do like the sound of Candid, Advertising and Architectural though.
@northy

@orangecrush Looking forward to this, as always.
Hey guys! @janim @westcoastwallis
Wow! Thank you all for the great response! This will be a lot of fun! For those of you worried about the Self Portrait, it can be any part of you! If your camera shy, post an eye or your hair or hand! Be creative!
Its so great to see so many old faces and new ones! Looking forward to your posts!
Don't forget to tag them ONS3. You can also copy and paste here on the thread!
Here is my Monday shot
Candid (Hope I am doing this right)...
