Yesterday, I learned that we lost one of our own, Paul King, just passed away. Paul was my friend, though just on 365. I had no idea he was doing poorly. He offered such kind, thoughtful comments and encouragement. Last year he was in a terrible car accident and was gone for a long while. A few months back, he was well enough to come back. I was so happy to have him around again..
I remember asking him if he had any specific things that I could pray about for him upon his return while he was still recovering...and he replied something sarcastic like, " yeah, that no cars would broadside" him again.
Here was his last post and announcement from his brother:
Just wanted to let you all know so that you could pray for or otherwise send love to his family.
And also to pay a tribute to our friend with some of his favorite subject, flowers. We will miss you, Paul. You were part of what makes this community wonderful.
In remembrance of Paul... I'll miss him...always loved seeing his shots and his comments so encouraging. Tears filled my eyes hearing such sad news. My thoughts are with you all. RIP Paul
I'm so sad to hear of Paul's passing. He was always there to encourage and praise and I will miss him and his lovely kind comments. He will leave a big hole on 365 and my sympathies go out to his family and also to his soulmate Annie @annied
This is a flower shot that Paul fav'd last year
only seems right to use the last flower photo that Paul commented on -- wish it had been a better one! But that was the great thing about him - he always had a kind word to say.
I´m just crying at the moment after reading this terrible news.. i just can´t believe it.. he was such a hero how he did anything to recover from his accident.. he was a real idol for me and one of my kindest followers. I will never forget you Paul!!!! And my deepest sympathy for Annie @annied and his family and friends!!
These are all such beautiful tributes to Paul. I am crushed and devastated by his passing. He did so love flowers and I thank you Amanda for starting this. I can't seem to figure out how to transfer a photo here as I don't have a code on my page any longer (?) maybe i'll figure it out later but wanted to leave a message in honor of our valued friend Paul King who brought smiles to face every morning when I read his words of encouragement and support. When I don't hear from him for a few days I "check up" on him. I was shocked this morning...an hope that he has found peace. Such a lovely and peaceful man.
@eyesmile Click on these three dots underneath the photo you want to share. It is to the right of the Favorites star icon. Then copy that addess that is in the window. and paste here
We didn't know each other from 365 but I remember seeing his name on some forum posts and stuff - he must have been really nice and a good photographer so here's a flower for him:
I was so shocked to hear the terrible news this morning...I still remember the day in Feb 2013, when I signed up at this site and saw one of his amazing macro shots of a zipper. He was the first friend I started following! And he remained one of my sweetest and most supportive followers! The last comment I heard from him was a few days ago ,on a sad flower shot I did. Then I didn't know that that flower was in tears (just like me right now),not looking at the rain...RIP my friend.
Just posted this one with thoughts for both Paul and Annie. So sad. He had said he was poorly and put (gentle!) pressure on my to get my 365th shot uploaded. Perhaps I would have given up had it not been for his encouragement. I am amazed at the fact that he must have been in such pain but managed to continue posting here and commenting and thanking everyone. Kind of puts things into perspective.
Oh I will miss him. He shared so much and such beautiful photos. We were able to watch his recovery after such a long time not being able to post. RIP. My thoughts and prayers are with Paul's friends and family at this sad time.
Shocked at this sad news. Paul always saw something special in everybody's work and always had words of encouragement for those of us trying to find our photographic feet here on 365. He was unique and caring and very talented. My thoughts are with his friends and family. RIP Paul.
@gillg I so agree with your sentiments Gill. I have also been thinking about how kind he was to keep on commenting when he was obviously in such a lot of pain and knowing he was nearing the end. Looking back, it was almost like he was trying to get around to say goodbye to everyone by commenting. It certainly does put everyday moans into perspective.
Truly a sad day for us all, and especially for his family and close friends. Thank you @amandal for starting this thread for him. @annied I'm so sorry.
Stunned and saddened by this news. Paul, always so generous and enthusiastic in your comments, even while going through such an ordeal. We prayed for you, we cheered for you, and we will miss you. RIP, Paul.
So sad to read this news. I didn't know Paul but I'd love to share one of my few flower shots in his honor. My deepest condolences go out to his family and friends.
I just posted this on one of my three albums/April 3rd. It was the only day on which I had a comment from Paul as we'd just encountered one another, and he left the sweetest words with my baby hummingbird photo. It liked the comment that day, and now love it even more. To his family and friends, you're in my thoughts; I'm glad to have met him.
A sunflower for Paul, a tragic loss to our community, I didn't personally know Paul, but our community here is very tight knit and felt I knew him through his wonderful, photography and lovely comments. Rest in peace Paul, this site will never be the same.
This was my tribute to him on 365. Miss his support, comments, emails and most of all his fabulous photographs. Paul was an amazingly talented photographer and a lovely friend.
My heart breaks for Paul's family... While I didn't personally know Paul, I do remember coming across his comments in discussions and I specifically recall my favorite photo of his, the cheese grater micro. What a talent. He will truly be missed here on 365.
I love how Paul would refer to my images as "Brilliant." I know that is just an expression, but it made me feel like I was really doing something right! Isn't it amazing how people we have never met can still touch us so?
I am so very sad and heart broken to hear this news. Paul was one of my first friends on 365 and has been such an inspiration and joy to have in my life on the 365 journey. I'm posting an old picture for paul that he fav'd. Rest in peace my friend. I will miss you. Love to his family and friends.
My sincerest condolences and thoughts of peace for Paul's family and friends.
In remembrance of Paul... I'll miss him...always loved seeing his shots and his comments so encouraging. Tears filled my eyes hearing such sad news. My thoughts are with you all. RIP Paul

Wish I had gotten a chance to thank you for your last comment last week. Wish I had known to pray. Wish you were still around. You were a kind soul.
