BBrrrrrrrr, A long Way From Home.

Black swans are thriving in the south of England and it is lovely to see them holding their own against the larger local white ones.

@happysnaps this one is for you Val x

These beautiful little birds are not native to Britain, and no way they flew from Australia, so they must be escapees or descendants of escapees. This pair seem to llive on this lake/pond and are therefore accepted by the white swans.

Thank you for yur lovely words and comments

The swannery down in Dorset has hundreds of swans including lots of black ones who nest there every year.

We have a bird like that in San Francisco. If you go to Coit Tower and meander down one of the historic stair ways to Fisherman’s Wharf, there are a zillion beautiful green parrots. The plaques say they believe a cargo ship lost a crate of the parrots over a century ago and they adapted.
