Rescued a Beetle

Last week I moved a slow worm to safety off a busy pavement, today this beetle.

I'm pretty sure it's a female stag beetle, so just in case (as it could be a lesser stag beetle) I've recorded my sighting on-line.

@30pics4jackiesdiamond sorry I've just seen my comment above and realised I messed up - I meant to say definitely a stag! It looks like a female stag beetle as it seems to have the brown colour.

Is this an insect that is out of its element where you live? Did you rescue it from imminent danger in the road or sidewalk?

@randystreat stupid thing was on pavement, busy with cyclists and scooters as well as people
@onewing I won't kill ants in the kitchen, they seem to disappear of their own accord
