That's Bert, seated in the red chair with his wife, Margaret, next to him and his son, Johnny, just behind. Kneeling, you met Mike when we first arrived in town http://365project.org/Weezilou/365/2010-05-15, and the dog's Lily. Mike's parents, Bea & Bob are on the green chair, and Bob was in that picture with Mike the other day. You know Ken & me already!
Bert & Margaret had driven over from their home in New Brunswick to visit this week, and tonight we had a birthday celebration with a lobster dinner! The food was rich and plentiful...I must get back to my habit of walking daily if I hope not to change shape before your eyes!
I took a heaping ton of pictures this afternoon, every couple's combination, family groups, the dog, the garden, the dinner & the birthday cake... I found I limited my drinking so I could take the best pictures I could, and then "called it a night" a little earlier than we usually do so I could come home and sort through my photos.
We had a great evening with wonderful friends. I think they'll all be pleased with my photo choice for today, and that I didn't use the picture of my lobster dinner!
wow - slava beat me to the comment! ( i think you just posted this pic). Such a nice group photo! Louise, I was just about to email you, but I am without my sickly computer (sad, sad story) for the moment...using my little netbook. I'm so lost without my computer! I can't edit my photos on this little thing! Anyway, thank you for your kind comments (as always)...I am extremely flattered to hear that you see in my photos a distinctive style...I feel as though I am floundering & searching for talent within myself...
You're having such a fabulous time Louise and amongst such lovely people. Thanks for finding the time to look at my pictures...well chuffed on the popular page 2 days running!! Keeps me encouraged!
It was a good call not to use the lobster....hahaha. ~ 91... congrats to Bert! Sound like a good time was had by all. I glad to hear that Dill's summer vacation plans are working out nicely. I wonder if Lily might want to move it too. ; ]
What a fun time with good friends. Scotie's know how to party that is for sure! I think you are funny about not drinking too much and going home early to take care of the pictures. Photography is just so addictive! My family has finally become used to me ALWAYS taking pictures and don't bother getting embarrassed or telling me "no" any more!
By the way, I will be heading off to Mahone Bay and Mader's Cove on my 365 today. We will return to Lunenburg before heading back to the east coast.
Enjoy walking those hills - that will certainly get you into shape!
great group shot-------it's hard to get everyone looking good at the same time and you did it! How wonderful for you to feel so at home in 2 places in this world!
this would be a great one for the album of friends! everyone looks so happy and i love the idea that you included the dog in this photo, it adds character to it! hey louise, i like your blouse!
Bert *IS* amazing! He's bright, conversational, very active, has been working alongside Johnny while visiting, and drove the car himself when they came to visit! He's adorable, and still quite a guy!
Nice portrait. I'm wanting to go swimming in the lake beside it.
For your comment on my picture: There's a simpler definition of entropy: the likelihood of something becoming disorganized. So when things start to break down or wear down, I think of entropy. :)
Louise, you know, like you, I am from SoCal. I believe you can live there for years and hardly ever meet anyone. You also will seldom run into someone you know when you are out. We are enjoying so much living in the Charleston area because I actually see people I know when I am out and we know so many of our neighbors. I believe that was part of what we loved about Nova Scotia too. The people are wonderful there and yes, they do love a party. I believe it is because they are trapped indoors for so many months during the winter :) I am enjoying your stories about NS too as we left a large part of our hearts there. Oh, and I am NOT retired! I wish! Kirby is retired but I am working again playing catch-up for the years we were off sailing and adventuring!
this photo is lovely! i like that the dog is smiling too! happy birthday to Bert!
thankyou for the lovely comment! i am so pleased with the photo, it was difficult to take but the response is great :-)
I repost here in case you dont see it the other place... :o)

The statue part is true. Theres a sad story behind this picture.
I had to leave home for 3 days (the place with no statues) to go to Copenhagen. I have a friend who got ommited to hospital. hes been fighting a brain tumor for 2 years now and we actually thought it was the end for him this time. Looks like he pulls through though.
.. :o)
So while being in Copenhagen I took this picture. Unfortunately I didnt return home until monday evening, which was too late to admit this pic. as a "theme" picture.
It is the same way here Louise-----the stores are overflowing with beautiful annuals and perennials. By the end of June just the nurseries will have flowers! So one needs to fill up now. And I am :o) I also go to yard sales and look for "planters", old pots and things. I have an old hunting stove that I bought last year---when I get it planted I will post a pic. The wheel barrel came from an antique store many years ago (an anniversary present from hubby).
Hello, my friend! I miss our morning coffee (as I now generally catch you before I go to bed!) ...
I decided that I needed to change my Halloween pic and go with something a bit more "in your face," so to speak!
I was thinking that it might be time to start my collection of 100 strangers, with Kathy being my first entry! I actually have a picture of her, but thought the shadow without her actual body was more interesting/universal ...
nice group u got there , all so happy and cant believe that Bert is 91 he looks great .. and yes would much rather this photo then the lobster u had as my mouth would be watering like a mad fella and would go eat something that isnt even close to being what u had lol ... I love seafood ..
thank u for you vote on my photo , i won and im still overwhelmed by it .. lol the process of being a winner is .. you get a email from ross stating ur the winner .. then he gives u a few ideas which u dont have to do with they are just examples to pick from .. The few he suggested didnt interest me so i got the thinking cap on and thought about it all day , asking friends , family etc . I wanted to make as many ppl as happy with the theme as i could , thinking about something p & s can do as well as dslr users .. So it hit me while waiting for the sun to come down ... shadows !!! i was going with old churches/cemertrys as i really would love to see more of these from around the world but might have to do that one another time if im lucky enough to flook it like last time lol ..
