Morning Coffee in Our Lunenburg Back Yard by Weezilou

Morning Coffee in Our Lunenburg Back Yard

I've been a total bum today, and it started this morning...

Actually, I got up at my usual early hour, came to the computer while Ken golfed, and realized I'd finally hit a wall. I was sleep deprived and exhausted, so I returned to sleep a little longer. I woke up when Ken came home around 10! He made us coffee & we took it out on the back deck, but it was already so hot, we stayed long enough for pictures and headed back inside! (It was 74F-23C at that hour and got up to 84F-28C by afternoon) Later this summer, the sitting area is more shaded in the morning, and we enjoy sitting, watching the birds at the feeder, and listening to the horse carriages clip-clop by.

I know someone's going to ask...I got the patio set at Pier 1 in Halifax when we first bought the house. I just love it, and it so suits that corner.

Ken puttered in the yard this afternoon and I just enjoyed cruising through 365 for hours. Tomorrow I'm getting back on schedule and Ken & I will begin our morning walks with the neighbors, Billy & David. We follow a road around a beautiful inlet, so water view all the way.

Speaking of water views, Suzie has posted a picture in Mahone Bay tonight...it's just 5 miles/8km from us. http://365project.org/stownsend/travels/2010-05-25 Our Australian friends and many more live there, so I'll show you around that neighborhood, too, one of these days. As I sit here now, it seems like plenty of time, but it's always a shock how fast it's gone when we come to the end of our visit. Meanwhile, I plan to fill the day tomorrow and continue to enjoy each day as it unfolds.

I should have mentioned...Denise is joining us for coffee in the morning...
You've been taking some fantastic photographs! I'm really enjoying them :)

Strange, Canadiens come to the US for Winter, and head back home for Summer. Us US folk head to Canada for Summer (well, my family, at least (we love fishing Pickerel in Ontario).

It's all good, eh?
May 25th, 2010
Okay, just imagine me there tomorrow morning ... I like my coffee strong and black!
May 25th, 2010
you two look so relaxing there! i wish i had more "do nothing just relax" days,sigh... my options right now: 1) work harder and make more money 2) win the lottery. i prefer #2 but i'm sure everybody prefer #2 so my odds are close to 0 :) so glad you had a relaxing day. I enjoy seeing all your photos, it's like being on a "visual vacation" :)

It sounds like the perfect morning. Good for you for going back to bed and sleeping in. I wish I could do that, but once I'm up, I'm up.

What a wonderful morning this sounds like! This is a charming photo.
May 25th, 2010
Hi Louise and Ken!
May 25th, 2010
You guys are adorable! Glad you got to sleep in and have a lazy morning. I was wondering when it was all going to catch up with you. I was starting to think you might be the Energizer bunny in disguise! Is it our Denise you get to see tomorrow? Or one of the NS locals?
May 25th, 2010
Looks relaxing!
May 25th, 2010
Hope you got caught up on your sleep Louise! You both look so at ease. You certainly seem to be enjoying your summer break! ....just out of curiosity, when you mentioned coffee I thought of Starbucks....do they have a Starbucks in Lunenberg? Just wondering
May 25th, 2010
I love early morning sun. The best way to start the day. 10AM in summer is too hot here also. In NZ you stayed inside in winter. Here in Queensland you stay inside in summer.
May 25th, 2010
*oops...Lunenburg*
May 25th, 2010
..oh I meant to say, thank you for your lovely kind words Louise. You really do my ego good. I've just discovered a major photography conference in October, being held 2 hours drive from here. I've registered to attend so I hope to learn so much more from the pro's. Come November I'll be smokin' :)
May 25th, 2010
Sounds like you guys are having a splendid time. Rest is good we just got back from a week at my MIL's doing some renovations on her house. We slept in today and are taking tomorrow off too. We have also enjoyed listening to the horse carriages clip-clop by our place too they keep the ones that offer tours downtown at Ogden point and they go right past our place everyday. Enjoy your week! :)
May 25th, 2010
I love Mahone Bay... that view coming around the corner, seeing the churches...
May 25th, 2010
That looks like such a nice place to "just be".
May 25th, 2010
Looks like you are enjoying NS - wish I was there now to have those great temperatures. Two more days :)
May 25th, 2010
It's good to have time just to "be" and to enjoy where you are. Love the sunny spot. We've just had weather forecast for today and expect it to reach.... wait for it.... a HIGH of 16°C.... that's 60.8°F!!! This is considered "warm" in Ireland. At the moment it is 5°C (41°F) and pleasant enough for a coffee in the garden.
May 25th, 2010
Oh keep on bummin'! Everybody needs days where you are nice and lazy with a good cup o' coffee. :)

Ok now... I'm wishing I could have cooler weather like you... hahaha a high of 84, wow! Sounds like heaven for this Texas gal. ;)

I adore morning walks, such a perfect way to start the day.

Keep on taking it easy, your photo makes me relaxed just looking at it!
May 25th, 2010
I thought that was waht holidays are for ... "being a total bum"!
May 25th, 2010
How lovely bench you have. I wish I could have my morning tea out in the backyard.
May 25th, 2010
Yes wonderful peaceful pictures, could almost be there!
May 25th, 2010
I hope the coffee was great - to match the lovely backyard. Thanks for the link to Suzie's glories shot as well :-)
May 25th, 2010
I can't believe it is 84 degrees F!! And in May! Our friends with the boats in Chester will be delighted as they are probably putting their boats in the water this week. I know exactly where you will be walking and hope you get some nice pictures there. I went once and none of my pictures were good. I think it was mid-day when the sun isn't good for pictures. Enjoy! (And thanks for the link to my photos!)
May 25th, 2010

May 25th, 2010
Looks like a lovely morning!
May 25th, 2010
Why do I have to work? I've been here 30 years...I think that's long enough at this job. That settles it...I'm retiring today and moving to Lunenburg this weekend! ....................It doesn't hurt to daydream for a few minutes : )
May 25th, 2010
You make me want a porch to have my morning coffee on!
May 25th, 2010
Ah, sweet repose. Glad you got a few extra winks. And regarding the dino shot...I was shopping at Mother's Market in Santa Ana and decided to shoot the giant cube over top of the Discovery Science Center. I found out as the sun was quickly setting that the best shot was probably from somewhere on the freeway. This is what I could see of the science center's outdoor dinosaur garden, shot from the street with my iPhone.
May 25th, 2010
What a lovely relaxing morning you had! Good weather again too! The sun always makes you more cheerful! Thanks again for the comment, glad you like the photo! Saw the photo from the link, looks like you will both be keeping busy getting through those books! I am really enjoying watching the old musicals, i'm just about to go watch '42nd Street' now! Have a lovely walk tomorrow, looking forward to seeing more photos!

First of all....@Heather...LOL! Me, too!

Secondly, Hi there! It's great to see you again! You look so happy and relaxed...now go unpack that suitcase, Missy! ;-)
May 25th, 2010
Sounds like quite a wonderful morning! I hope the rest of your day is going as well.

I can spend hours and hours here looking at pictures too. Before I know it I haven't gotten a thing done!

You had said something about finding a circle of friends to take pictures with in my area. I really enjoyed the field trips I took with photography class and then I wasn't taking classes for a while so I started a Yahoo group and invited a bunch of people. My teacher even joined when I started taking classes again! It's great fun!

Have a wonderful evening!
May 25th, 2010
