Back in March, in California, Billy came to mind when I looked at our roses and thought of how lovingly he tends his garden every summer http://365project.org/Weezilou/365/2010-03-29 I knew then that I'd want to take a photo of him in his yard one summer day. I had an image in mind, but hadn't yet gotten around to taking it.
Today I decided to try Loni's P&S challenge and took pictures on my morning walk. Coming back, Billy said he wanted to give me some roses as rain is expected this weekend. Amongst a number of pictures I took at his house, including a wonderful one of Dill, I took this one. It wasn't until I was looking through them all this evening that I realized I'd already taken the definitive photo of Billy in his Lunenburg garden. Tonight those roses are in a vase in my living room, and I have this photo to give to him in return. Thanks, B!
MORNING UPDATE: Billy was amazed to find his photo here... He's also quite knowledgable about "all things music & movies" and reminded me that Ringo's first big hit after the Beatles disbanded was (I can't believe this!) *Photograph* http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t6CMSuT98-E (I never saw it before, but I'm amazed at the look alike, too!)
I was just thinking he looks like Ringo Starr! And speaking of which, he just turned 70... and doesn't look a day over 50! What a great Beatle; and Billy looked like him!
What a lovely shot of him tending to some gorgeous roses... this reminds me of my old boss who - when I was working full-time - used to bring in some gorgeous roses from his garden some days to put on the front reception desk; just lovely.
Great photo- how nice to have a friend who gives you roses. I love roses - am tempted to post pictures of them every day through the summer! - that one Billy is tending is such a lovely pale pink shade.
what beautiful roses! I can practically smell them! It's time to refresh my flowers in the house... roses might just be what I need... that and snickerdoodles (after looking at Jeff's photo). :)
Hope you have a lovely weekend Louise!
Great shot of a man who looks like he enjoys his gardens!
Thanks for joining in on the p/s challenge Louise! I feel your pain with the LCD screen. The couple of shots I took outside were lucky - can't see that screen at all!
Cooling coffee... I made cosies for my French Presses.... the coffee stays piping hot in it. I also have a couple of thermos Presses with double walls and while they don't keep the coffee hot forever they do keep it at a good drinking temperature, 68 degrees F, for a long time. I like cooler coffee (drink it black mostly) so the cooling doesn't bother me - but made wee cosy jackets to put on those that I serve to friends! The jelly sweets are truly delicious!!!!
Gorgeous roses, and nice shot of Billy too. Oh he does look like Ringo! I saw a documentary on TV tonight about John Lennon's first solo album, Ringo played drums on that and he featured extensively, Billy really does look like him, but can he play the drums?
Speaking as his friend, I can say he has many talents, but I don't think he's had a drum set... We've had some laughs about the Ringo comparision today, but I have to agree with everyone now that I've seen some youtube videos. All he needs is the earring http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=upytFIvcMJY
Beautiful photo!! Billy really looks so much like Ringo Starr - it's amazing! How wonderful that he gave you some of his beautiful roses! :-) Glad to hear the roofers are gone, and the noise with them! I've been trying to play catch up myself, but it's not easy. If i skip a day, I have to spend one on 365, and it's still not enough! So I am doing the best I can :-) Tomorrow will be another day at the house - putting woodfloors in on the list! Walls and windows are painted already, Jeremy is in his element and he refuses to slow down until he gets everything done! :-) Have a peaceful and relaxing weekend, Louise! ;-)
They probably do have home tours - I would have never thought of that!! You always have such amazing ideas! I'll definitely ask around! It would be wonderful to take a peek inside a beautiful old home like that! And take pictures ;-))
Wow, those are gorgeous roses!! I have always loved roses, especially pale ones. (:
Re: Thanks for the compliment on my profile picture! :D Some friends and I were goofing off in a party store, trying on different masks and wigs (the employees are really lax there), and I just really liked the photo (:
Gorgeous Roses and handsome man!
Billy DOES look sort of like Ringo, but without Ringo's nose.
I think he looks more like the late Maurice Gibb from the Bee Gees.
Has anyone ever told you that, Billy? :-)
Great capture! The roses are beautiful!

Thank you so much for your kind words! Always appreciated. Really thrilled to be in the paper for something that I love doing.

The roses are pretty too...
