In St John's church Friday evening, this was the gathering to hear Robert Quinney perform an organ recital of Bach (both Sr and Jr) and Marcel Dupre. What is remarkable is that Robert has a jaw-dropping resume of accomplishments and credentials, the most recognizable to all being on the day he played for the marriage of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge (William and Kate) to an estimated television audience of 2 billion worldwide. By comparison, this gathering is akin to a living-room recital! We arrived early enough to have selected any seat, but I like front-row balcony for the over view and the sound that fills the building! I've never played an organ, but when in the presence of a Maestro, there's something recognizably above the ordinary! This was one of those evenings.
We were told that Robert's mother-in-law is from Lunenburg, and a reason for him to come here for a visit. Our "Good Fortune" seems to know no bounds!
@aglennc I didn't know that about you! If you google this young man's name, you'll be amazed at his accomplishments. If I'm allowed to use the term "enraptured"...well, I was as I watched his feet dancing across the pedals, and all the while he had other music coming from the keys...I've never seen anything like it!
Now, thats a pretty church! I recently stayed wıth an organıst ın Belgıum. I dıdnt get to hear hım play ın church though - just not a mornıng person. LOL!
@dailypix Yes...sometimes I like to sit almost front and center, but initially, I thought Robert would be sitting on the far right in the back where the organ typically is! However, as you see, they moved it out, but I also like front-row balcony as I can see and hear so well! It was an amazing evening!
