@panthora Osia! Shame on you! Yes, my daughter Ashley spent some time there and had to share some very sad photos of little cremations... (Ha...you'd think I'd be a vegetarian!) I have to say that as I cuddled one of these, I kept thinking how many of them have been sacrificed for lab studies... Even these two could probably do without being stared at in close proximity and groped by small hands! The lot of a guinea pig is a rough one :(
Oh, the memories. Keith's 1st grade classroom had a (litter box trained) rabbit and a guinea pig in their classroom. We had them for several weekends that year and both spring and Christmas vacations. Our two kids loved having them at home with us. (I had a little guinea pig as a kid too. Loved the little guy.)
Oh, does this bring back memories. Keith's 1st grade classroom had a (littler box trained) bunny and a guinea pig in the classroom. We kept both often for weekends. Our kids loved having them home with us..
Great shot Louise. There's something very special about class pets. Teaches the children responsibility. In the past I have kept fish, guinea pigs and hamsters. We have hatched eggs and cared for chicks and most amazing of all have bred silkworms and butterflies and watched tadpoles develop. Some of these are no longer encouraged!
I think the little guinea spotted you as well as the little guy, cute that they are both looking. I bet they were thrilled, especially knowing Grandma was coming and she loves animals.
@ceilidh I suspect you know that, as I child, I loved having the classroom pets! You might get a kick out of this http://365project.org/Weezilou/365/2013-09-24 We're staying with Ashton, so I asked him if they had had tadpoles (no) or had hatched eggs (no, but they did have 2 chickens) He then began to tell to retell the story of "the crus-a-lusses"... He's grown up since I posted that one!
Ah, lucky them! I enjoyed the thread -- remember having them in my class when I taught 4th grade. Always a hassle to find someone to take them on the weekend!
