Summers in Lunenburg are a joy for the sights and sounds we'd never experience in our California neighbourhood. While I think the horses get a day off, all day we hear their hoofs clip-clopping by the house. I was in back of the garage taking pictures of the wild rose bush when this group passed. The driver will point out the brown house on the right as it's one of the oldest in this historic district, having been built in the late 1700s. There's also a water barrel by the stop sign and the horses get a drink and are hosed down before moving on.
This ride is a favorite of our grandson, Ashton, and when one of the drivers saw we were back, she called out to ask when he would be arriving! Since he rides for free, we adults take turns riding with him so he can go more often! I'm sure there will be two more grandsons joining Ashton this year! Our little Hazel turned one today, so she and I will watch and wave as they go by!
@lyndemc Soul Food, indeed! Having been house-bound these past two months with only the back yard for entertainment, it was wearing a little thin! This is like rebirth!
@cmewander Thanks (c-me?)! This corner is a somewhat well-kept secret, though I've done my best these past 14 years to draw my friends up here for a visual treat! We've never stopped saying that it's a slice of heaven!
This is wonderful, the first place we lived in Victoria we had horses clopping by as the gave historic tours around the area. We loved it so I can see you would too. Glad it's a favorite for your grandson and so cool the driver noticed you were back. Your pictures are like a tourism showcase for Lunenburg.
This is a lovely gentle shot which must reflect the pace of.ife there. I always think of Nove Scotia as cold and wet; I'll have to change my mind after your lovely shots
@allie912 Allie, so you remember Sue Stephenson @swazette ? She'll be here tomorrow, having met in Chicago "back when" and we continued to stay in touch! Off to get some rest; thought you might get a kick out of that! Good night!
@allie912 Oh, I do need rest...I forgot my manners... Thank you for that kind compliment! You know how much we love it here, and I want others to know it's not to be missed if at all possible! We look forward to meeting Bob and his wife in a few weeks!
